The Premier League is a distraction in Tottenham’s quest for silverware

It was always going to be a long shot Tottenham winning the title and that is not to say it is still not possible but let’s be honest, it is unlikely to happen this season.

That is fine because that is not what most fans are desperate for, it is silverware, be that the Carabao Cup, Europa League, FA Cup or even the Premier League.

Finishing top-four is imperative and must be considered a minimum requirement but it is lifting a trophy that both the club and fans desire above all else.

Spurs have a fairly easy route to the Carabao Cup semi-finals in Stoke City, a game that the lads really should win in a canter and hopes are high that Jose Mourinho can guide us to that piece of silverware.

We are into the knockout stages of the Europa League with another comfortable draw and the FA Cup draw was as favourable as it gets.

It is very disappointing to lose in the Premier League, especially when we play poor but the dynamics have not changed, it is silverware that most fans want and if they get there playing awful football I am not sure most Spurs fans will care.

However, boring football without success is unacceptable, there is a price to pay for inflicting dreadful performances on the fans and that is trophies and there is also a price to pay if in return for awful football if we do not experience glory.

Mourinho has to be aware of that.
