Micah Richards has had his say on Tottenham’s club record signing Dominic Solanke.

Apart from extending the loan spell of Timo Werner and signing teenagers Archie Gray and Lucas Bergvall, Tottenham had not done much in the transfer window. They were solely focused on signing a new number nine for Ange Postecoglou’s team and after long-drawn negotiations, they struck a deal with Bournemouth to sign Dominic Solanke.

The former Liverpool star will surely bolster their attack and he will be their central figure in their attack, something they lacked last season. But, Micah Richards has shared his only concern about the Tottenham club record signing.

While speaking on The Rest Is Football podcast, Richards said: “He has got good movement, hasn’t he? The only thing I will say, not to be negative, but the Bournemouth team was built around him.

“Whereas he will definitely give them a better option, and going to a bigger club there is sometimes a bit more pressure.

“I think it’s a very good signing. I think £65 million is a lot of money but he adds something different to what they have.”

Tottenham agreed to shatter their transfer record and forked out £65 million to sign the 26-year-old who had scored 19 goals in the Premier League last season. While one could consider the fee to be a touch on the higher side, the former Manchester City defender is not really concerned about the money they have spent as Solanke adds something different to what they already have in the final third.

His concern is that Bournemouth’s entire game plan was built around the former Liverpool striker something that won’t happen at Spurs. More importantly, he will be under a lot of pressure as he will now be playing for one of the top clubs in the country. While Richards considers him to be a great signing for Spurs, Solanke might take time to settle in under Postecoglou.
