The Premier League is back with a bang, with several sides putting three and four goals past their opening-day opponents, with Manchester City and Liverpool leading the pack. The season may be underway, but the transfer window is also open, and it is stealing all the attention. The summer for most footballers was all about relaxing on the beach, booking in a new tattoo or taking advantage of no deposit free spins, and now it’s all about who can secure the most lucrative, last-minute moves for themselves.

Tottenham have had a mixed bag of it so far, initially getting what looks like an exceptional deal over the line for Mohammed Kudus from West Ham United. It wasn’t all plain sailing at The Hammers. Kudus had an impressive first season at West Ham in 2023/24, scoring 8 goals and providing 9 assists in 33 Premier League games, earning him the Premier League’s best newcomer award from Gary Neville.

However, his second season was less consistent, with only 5 goals and 3 assists in 32 matches, partly due to West Ham’s struggles, not to mention him being deployed in less familiar roles under Graham Potter’s wing-back system. In the short space of time that Kudus has demonstrated precisely the type of character Spurs were looking for. The Dynamism, flair, and versatility of the player have been exceptional. Against Burnley, the winger was superb, making 5 key passes and supplying 2 assists.

Spurs were heavily tipped to acquire the services of Morgan Gibbs-White from Nottingham Forest; however, that deal turned out to be far more complicated than anyone might have thought. The player changed his mind; however, his decision to stay at Forest was cemented with a contract extension of just one year. Which perhaps revealed the true motives of the 25-year-old.

The latest saga now revolves around Crystal Palace’s attacking midfielder Eberechi Eze, with negotiations progressing as of August 2025. Talks between the clubs, led by chairmen Daniel Levy and Steve Parish, are reportedly very close to an agreement, with a potential transfer fee around £55 million plus add-ons. Given the previous situation with Gibbs-White, the fanbase is understandably nervous about another deal falling through.

Arsenal have infamously shown interest in Eze, a boyhood Arsenal fan, but their focus on selling players like Leandro Trossard has delayed any move, giving Tottenham the edge. Kai Havertz has picked up a knee injury, which sent a ripple of insecurity throughout the Lilywhite support. Havertz is currently being assessed over a knee injury, but the German has only just returned from a long-term hamstring injury, which kept him out between February and May. There’s loose talk that Spurs could be gazumped again, which would just about send most of us over the edge!
