The few negative Spurs fans need to get off the back of youngster and get some perspective

Tottenham got a good result against Chelsea at the weekend, a result that saw us return to the top of the standings.

However, it was noticeable how Joe Rodon came in for some stick from a small section of the fan base, as we covered here and in my opinion, it was out of order.

Some perspective really is required, this was his first league start for us, it was against a top team in just as good form as we currently in, it was away from home, albeit without fans and he was playing in a system that is completely new to him.

Rodon did make the odd error and yes, one such error could have been very costly but we have a world cup winner in our team that has made some howlers and of course, most of our other defenders have a history of bloopers.

To go after Rodon after a great result against a free-scoring side just seems very petty to me. Remember, a clean sheet was kept against a team that has jointly scored the most goals this season in the Premier League and that spent £200 million or thereabouts on new talent.

Rodon is a work in progress and will take a little time to settle in completely and if Jose Mourinho trusts him and if Ben Davies and Gareth Bale speak highly of him then that is good enough for me to be patient and allow him some leeway as he integrates into his new surroundings.
