“The beginning of a new world” Jose Mourinho makes a bold statement even if he fails

By Bruce Grove -

Jose Mourinho is no stranger to making bold statements, and he has just delivered another one on the prospect of Tottenham not making the top six at the end of this season.

The Lilywhites are currently struggling for a place in a European qualifying position after they made a poor start to the season.

They reached the final of the Champions League last season and they have been finishing inside the top six for the past decade.

There is, however, a good chance that they might not make it into the top positions at the end of this campaign but Mourinho doesn’t think it would be such a bad thing.

The Portuguese manager claimed that it won’t be the end of the world if Spurs finishes outside the top six and he took a more positive approach to say that it might be a good thing and that it would probably be the start of good things to come.

Mourinho told Sky Sports when asked about finishing in the top six: “I believe, but it is also possible that does not happen. And if that does not happen it is not the end of the world. If that does not happen, it is probably the beginning of a new world because things change.

“Change for you, change for other clubs. The squads they change. The motivations they change, the group dynamic changes. The group that possibly was strong 10 years is ago is not strong anymore. A player that was in the maximum of his motivation is not anymore and vice-versa.

“It is also possible that we don’t get into a top-six position.

“And if that happens of course we have to look at it not smiling, but we have to look at it with optimism and look at it with a professional profile of next season has to be different.

“Because if you analyse Tottenham for example last year, how many matches did Tottenham win away from home? When I arrived I think it was almost a year without an away victory.

“If it happens (finishing outside of the top six), it happens but we don’t want it to happen and we are going to fight for it not to happen.”

It will not be the end of the world, Mourinho is right about that but if we do fail this season he will have to make sure we don’t next season because there is simply no coming back from that, he would have to go.

Complete joke, utilising the wrong players, crap defensive tactics. Anyone would think He’s come in as Chelsea’s sleeper agent to fuck us up once and for all. Sick of the sight of him. We had a serial winner, now we’ve got a deluded loser. Get him out now.

It would not be a disaster missing out on the EL, but only if we strengthen the squad to push for a top four place and go for the domestic cups next season.

I really hope we are chasing ASM, didn’t think he would be a Mourinho type, but just get him no matter what, we are supposedly after Eze at QPR who will be cheaper though.

The only thing we can do is churn the players but clubs know we are a busted flush so they are going to laugh at Tight Purse’s lowball offers.
Never did I imagine THFC to be languishing mid-table this season.
I am in shock.

Sacking Poch was a massive f**k up for Levy, he thought Jose would kick some bottoms and get the team into the top 4 regardless of the lack of investment in the side over the previous two years.
Well he was wrong, and if Jose had performed that feat then Levy would be saying “great, the squad is good enough after all, we still don’t need to spend”.

I think this week he just realised how deep in the doo – doo this team is.

Is Jose the dummy for Levy’s new ventriloquist act or something?

Just heard Chris Cowlin say Spurs have offered Rose and Foyth for Newcastle United’s Allan Saint – Maximin. If that’s true that is just down right embarrassing and delusional. Off course Newcastle will swap one of the most exciting and promising wingers in the Premier League for just one of those two top players.

Agree, a few loans and free transfers aren’t going to catch Liverpool and Man City, maybe coaching this group of unmotivated players and some of the academy players turning out to be stars and the players bought last season really kick on might be the answer. I’m trying to convince myself anyway. The history of clubs that have success and then fall away is worrying. Liverpool and United have struggled for years to get back to winning trophies and they had far greater success and resources than Spurs have. It’s worrying.

“it is probably the beginning of a new world”…Levy is using that 175m to find a cure for Covid19, he was last seen in Wuhan with a bunch of scientist scuttling behind him…

So without any major, quality signings coming in, how is Mourinho The Miraculous Magician going to turn this round next season? Let’s say we do not get Europa League football, would we be pleased if we get it next year? Mourinho will spin that as progress and there is the magician’s misdirection. Playing on Thursday nights in Israel, Albania and Scotland is hardly going to be progress!
