Over the last few days, Tottenham Hotspur has been connected to their former midfielder Christian Eriksen. The 30-year-old signed a six-month contract with Brentford for the remainder of the season, and thus far, he has impressed.
As a result, other clubs are taking notice, one of them is Spurs. Nonetheless, Eriksen’s agent Martin Schoots attempts to downplay rumors of a future move away from Brentford.
Schoots insists that the ongoing speculation is simply a by-product of his client’s outstanding showings with The Bees, showing that he’s more than capable of playing football at a high level after suffering his cardiac arrest last summer at the UEFA Euros.
“It is clear that Christian is making a big impression at the moment, both with the national team and Brentford,” Schoots told Danish outlet BT. “The speculation about his future is a logical consequence of this.
“Although Christian is widely recognized for his positive influence at Brentford’s level and the team’s achievements, he would prefer to concentrate on the club’s collective goal, which is to avoid relegation.”
Along with Spurs, Manchester United is another club that has reportedly expressed interest in the veteran midfielder. However, the connections to Tottenham are understandable, considering it’s a club he has spent the majority of his playing career, and manager Antonio Conte brought him to Inter Milan.
