‘that would probably get it done’: Former ace reveals how much Spurs could demand for 26-yr-old

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur defender Joe Rodon is currently on loan at Leeds United and he has been linked with a permanent exit from the north London club at the end of the season.

According to a report from Football Insider, Leeds could look to sign him permanently and former Tottenham defender Alan Hutton feels that his former club could seek over £15 million for the Wales international.

Hutton said: “We’re talking over £15 million – that’s a huge figure that would probably get it done.

“I always think that his time at Tottenham wasn’t amazing, but he’s shown what he’s capable of at Leeds. He’s playing good football every week and looks happy. He’s at a huge club in their own right, so staying could be his best route going forward”.

It will be interesting to see if Leeds are willing to pay that kind of money for the 26-year-old defender in the summer. Rodon has established himself as a key player for Leeds and he has been an indispensable asset for them in the Championship.

His performances will be crucial to their push for promotion and they should look to keep him at the club beyond the season. The Wales international is well-settled at Elland Road and staying at Leeds would be ideal for him as well.

He is unlikely to get first team opportunities at Tottenham next season and therefore returning to his parent club would not be a preferable option for the defender. He needs to sort out his long-term future and focus on his football now.

It remains to be seen whether Leeds can agree on a deal with Tottenham in the coming months.

Rodon is entering the peak years of his career and he will want to play regularly. It remains to be seen whether he can guide the Whites to the top flight and convince them to pay a premium for him.
