“That is why Ajax can consider him” Reporter hints Conte is happy to offload this Spurs player

The Dutch journalist Mike Verweij has commented on the future of Steven Bergwijn at Tottenham and it isn’t a positive comment.

Bergwijn has struggled for relevance since he moved to the club and he is still not showing why several clubs also wanted to sign him back then.

The Dutchman has hardly played under Antonio Conte, who doesn’t seem to fancy him.

Verweij claims the Italian has hardly spoken to the forward and that may be a sign that Bergwijn could become one of the first players that leaves Spurs under the Italian.

Ajax has a long-standing interest in him and they have now been tipped to return to try to sign him.

“Conte doesn’t see it in him at all,” explains Vermeij on the Kick-Off podcast.

“Conte is also the one who thwarted Bergwijn’s transfer from from PSV to Italy. Inter were interested at the time but Conte didn’t need him.

“Conte has only said two words to Bergwijn in two weeks at Tottenham Hotspur. That is why Ajax can consider him, but first Ajax will have to sell (Brazilian forward David) Neres.”

The Boy Hotspur Says

Conte is Bergwijn’s third manager at Tottenham, yet he has still not established himself as an important player at the club.

He is unlikely to survive the Italian and this development suggests his time as Spurs is nearing its conclusion.

Conte has the reputation for ruthlessly offloading players and our squad could be completely different by the start of next season.
