That Alderweireld Equalizer + Performance Analysis [video]

By The Boy -

From zero to hero.

Struck with all the force of a man with a recently arrived newborn in his house, who had also recently scored an own goal.

Beyond the whole “a goal for each team” business, Toby’s afternoon was just as turbulent. An unrelenting Villa side showed the Belgian no quarter.

His successful passing accuracy was down to 79%, and the Alderweireld house special, the long pass, was a disaster zone, with just 4 successful balls from an attempted 10.

Toby recovered the ball 7 times, but failed to win a single aerial duel, and lost 3 of the 5 tackles he attempted. Not his finest hour (and a half).

Dier is a spent force. Still has a pass on him, but about 40min of stamina, no pace, no mobility. I keep hoping he just needs a couple months of regular games to reach top fitness, but no signs he’s much better than when Mou arrived and stared playing him again.

The only player on Villa’s books that would get anywhere near our team is Grealish. And the bald numpty effed that up last year, so he’ll so somewhere else this summer – and it won’t be Hotspur Way.

Congrats to Sanchez for the Toby like long ball which put Son through for the winning goal.

Adios amigos this eve.
IMO both Mings and McGinn would be useful acquisitions for Spurs should Villa get relegated.

£80 mil will be peanuts after England caps. We’d double his worth fast. We’re at the new lan€ man.

If you want to think big and win silverware the likes of securing Grealish are all part of the jigsaw.

Yeah there’s no way we’re shelling out 80 large on him now. Gutted Levy didn’t buy him but that’s life I guess. There’s always what could have been. Dybala… Mane… Willian… Hazard…
Seriously there can be no excuses this summer. We need a major signing or two. Now we’re apparently coining it, there’s nothing left to spend it on other than players!

Thats now, before we could compounding by missing out on the likes of Maddisson and David Broookes as well.
Perhaps we should make a bid for Tod Cantwell and the whole of the Norwich side should they expectantly get relegated!

Showing how reliant we are on Kane, yes we did miss a host of chances but credit Villa keeper Reina for pulling off a string of good saves.

You will see from my response below that Grealish could have joined Spurs had our esteemed chairman made a realistic bid of £40m at the time!
Forget Grealish he has come and gone me thinks.
Probably off to Man Utd in the summer.

Never easy is it?! We were so profligate today – and defensively shaky. Aurier had a rough first half but picked up in the second. Dele should have had 1or 2 today. Too many wasted chances. However I can’t help thinking the biggest wasted chance of them all was not stumping up for Grealish 2 seasons ago – He looks brilliant! I’d still love him at Spurs but we can’t afford him now.

Agreed on Gazzaniga. Hugo was suspect before the injury. Aurier put simply isn’t a very good footballer.

You are correct in your assessment when perhaps Jose ought to be giving a run out to Mark Noble look alike Skippy!

The irony is that our chairman thinking he could nick Grealish when the Villa club were in financial turmoil at the time, a realistic bid of £40m would probably have secured this talented maestro.

IMO I would have kept faith with more imposing Gassiniga between the posts whose distribution is better.

Credit where it’s due whilst he gets a log of pasting on this blog erratic Aurier made one vital potential goal saving interception in the match worthy of praise!

Lloris day dreaming didn’t help Tobes today.

Aurier is still an accident that’s going to happen. Far more a worry than Toby imo

Dier will be gone in the summer. He is plodding along. Him and Winks are the unlikely couple not even covering the defence or am I being sensitive?

If it is true that Manure were prepared to pay 50 M for Dier , Jose ? , then a lot of us on here would be better off getting involved with Polo or French Polishing. Or something.

Fair point. Never know what to make of Moura other no one can accuse him of a lack of work ethic!

Toby is a sweeper and he is exposed to much by the total uselessness of Dier in front and the lightweight Winks. Dier is just ridiculous its like playing with 10 men. How he gets anywhere near the first eleven is beyond my understanding

I think you are being harsh on Levy. He bid £4 mill! Value now, circa £60 to 80 mill. Well done Levy.

Once again an unconvincing Spurs win raising question marks at the back and front.
And just to think Levy valued Villas most influential player Grealish (rumoured to be joining Man Utd in the summer) at a modest figure of £3M!!
