TeleFoot Say Tanguy Is A Done Deal

By The Boy -

According to our information Tottenham will disburse the sum of 63 million euros, plus bonus, to recover Ndombele and consolidate his midfield, greatly weakened by injuries last season. The player already agrees to sign up for a five-year contract with the London club.

Telefoot

A five-year deal has been agreed and the fee is €63million rising with various add-ons.

IF true, then one might imagine that an announcement will follow imminently.

The securing of a major European talent goes way beyond the usual fluff about ‘a signal of intent’.

The sole issue of importance here is that Levy has done as he was told for once and not just listened to his manager but acted upon the guidance.

I’ll double down on my previous pass given to our illustrious president; if Tanguy NDombele doesn’t work – goes all Vincent Janssen on us – then Levy won’t hear any bleating from me.

It’s Poch’s baby and it is his responsibility to get a tune out of the 22-year-old Frenchman.

Taking so long to replace Mousa Dembele has been quite enough of a genuine crime, without seeking to invent other charges.

So does Levy get a round of applause for eventually doing the right thing?

Pfffft, no.

For this, he simply earns his salary, for once. Or does one also give the postman a round of applause for getting the right letters through the right letterboxes?

In some ways this is the worst time; almost there but………. we have lost players before at 11.59pm and I too want to see the shirt being worn.
But assuming that we have deals done in the next day or two for N’Dombele and Clarke; what then. Our net position is that we have replaced Moussa D – Clarke is a good prospect but will not have an impact on the first team (certainly not from Leeds).
What will be interesting now is to what extent we look to refresh the squad: my own view is that too much change will risk mutation rather than evolution. I would guess that Poch would like have some continuity of the squad’s “esprit de corps” that he has worked so hard to build.
I am also intrigued by how the contracts for Eriksen, Toby and Jan have been allowed to run down to 1 year. Toby has a get-out, but a lot of the sounds being made suggest he’ll stick around; Eriksen too is hardly fighting tooth and nail to get out of the door. I am wondering if there is some deal that has been done with these players to see out there contracts.
They were all bought for what is (in today’s money) very reasonable sums and whilst this is a lost opportunity for Levy to cash in, we have retained them on low wages and probably, even if they walk, we will probably not have lost money whilst having successfully retained the services of senior players on junior wages.
I wonder if there may be some long term arrangement with Ajax, with Toby & Jan heading there in 2020 on a free with some trade coming the other way.
Eriksen tho’ seems to be different: I suspect Levy has been out-flanked by events and that the nailed-on move to Real Madrid has now cooled. The problem for us is that Eriksen has now left our plans in Limbo: is he going? Is he staying? Until we know, we cannot (or perhaps will not) commit to an alternative.

The price you pay when you fail to strengthen in two transfer windows.

Be under no illusion. Levy is the problem in our club and Poch is complicit …..

This being Spurs and of course the perpensity of Levy cocking it up at the last minute……

I’ll believe it when I see this, or any player in our shirt playing for us……. Before that, anything else is cloud cuckoo

Player, Manager, Shirt, Photograph. Then i’ll believe it. And as H rightly said, Levy deserves no special credit for just doing his f*cking job ffs and i hope he doesn’t think he can bask in this either. That;s one, we desperately need minimum two more, ideally three. First up a motivated replacement for tin tin, second, a credible back up for HK and third a new RWB. And Tobes signed, just offer him parity with HK and the facky captaincy, he’s that important.
