Tanguy Ndombele still wants out of Spurs – seemingly at all costs

The Tanguy Ndombele crisis – as it will be remembered – won’t quite end up in history’s annuls alongside that of the Cuban Missile crisis, but in purely footballing terms, this fiasco could yet eclipse even Tottenham Hotspur’s record for bad transfer decisions.

Sources close to the club tell me that Tanguy and his rather industrious representatives have decided to not skip a beat during this thankfully brief lull between the last the next season. What puzzles the source, and surely bewilders the rest of us mere mortals, is what caused all this nonsense.

José Mourinho’s public exasperations are not enough to hang the Portuguese, no matter how blind one’s contempt. This is a Premier League side’s record signing, given wage parity with England captain Harry Kane, and yet we’ve a player that is perpetually unavailable?

The bottom line here is that the player’s representatives and their ongoing campaign of discord is extremely unlikely to end well for Tottenham.

The sooner this miserable business is resolved, the better. What tale of woe will be pitched to his next club? The whole thing is most strange…
