Tottenham are actively working on restructuring their squad for the upcoming season.
Spurs defender Emerson Royal is one of the prominent players linked to a potential move this summer.
He has been linked with a move away to Milan since several weeks now with the two clubs failing to agree on a fee as yet.
However, renowned transfer specialist Fabrizio Romano has recently provided an update on Emerson’s situation.
According to Romano, there have been direct contacts regarding the full-back’s potential transfer to AC Milan.
The Brazilian international, who has shown interest in joining the Italian club since May, has already given his approval for the move.
However, there is still a gap between the two clubs concerning the transfer fee, with Tottenham seeking around €25 million for Emerson, as reported by the Italian journalist on his X handle.

Emerson, who has two years left on his contract until June 2026, has struggled to secure a regular starting position under manager Ange Postecoglou. Last season, the defender started only 29% of the Premier League games, making just 22 appearances.
AC Milan have shown significant interest in the right-back, and discussions between Milan and Emerson’s agent, Stefano Castagna, have previously progressed positively.
This ongoing dialogue brings both parties closer to a potential agreement, although nothing has been finalised yet.
Tottenham’s willingness to negotiate a deal for Emerson is part of their strategy to reshape the squad. Selling Emerson would provide Spurs with additional funds to reinvest in new players who better fit Postecoglou’s tactical vision
