Talks held with player, club looking to raid Tottenham on deadline day for 28-year-old ace

Real Betis have held talks with Giovani Lo Celso as they look to sign the Tottenham midfielder on transfer deadline day.

The transfer window slams shut tonight but with time still left, the North London club could make significant changes to their squad. They could finally have an opportunity to offload Giovani Lo Celso who is on the wishlist of Real Betis.

According to a report from Muchodeporte, the Spanish outfit have already held talks with the Argentine international regarding a return to the club. With Nabil Fekir expected to complete his move to Al Jazira in the near future, Betis are planning for life without their skipper who has been at the club since 2019.

The club’s directors have been looking at the best possible solutions to strengthen their midfield and Giovani Lo Celso is one of the names on their wishlist. Reports earlier in the window suggested that they are looking to bring back in the Argentine in case of Fekir’s departure. With the 31-year-old now closer to an exit, Betis have already held talks with the former PSG star who is not a part of Ange Postecoglou’s plans moving ahead.

They feel Lo Celso could be an ideal signing for them as he can cover for Isco who is currently recovering and can feature in a number of positions which gives them more tactical flexibility. With the 28-year-old surplus to requirements at Spurs and his contract running out in less than 12 months, he is a viable option for Real Betis.
