Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Leicester City midfielder James Maddison in recent weeks.
The Foxes have been relegated to the Championship and they are expected to lose their best players this summer.
A player of Maddison’s calibre will want to play in the Premier League and he has been linked with clubs like Tottenham and Newcastle.
A report from Daily Mail claims that the 26-year-old midfielder initially preferred a move to the London club but that might have changed following Newcastle’s Champions League qualification.
On top of that, Tottenham have had a disappointing campaign and they have missed out on the Champions League as well.
It is no secret that Tottenham will have to add creativity and goals to their midfield. Maddison would have been a quality acquisition for them.
Missing out on the player to Newcastle would be a blow for Spurs and it remains to be seen whether they can convince the player to move to north London.
Maddison has been one of the best attacking midfielders in the league despite Leicester City’s relegation and he has 10 goals and 9 assists to his name across all competitions.
He is certainly good enough to play for the best teams in the league and he could help Spurs compete for trophies next season. His arrival will also help share the creative burden for Harry Kane and allow the England international striker to focus on his goal-scoring.
