Spurs want £21m-rated Brazilian but face tough competition from European giants

Tottenham has been linked with a move for Barcelona full-back, Emerson.

The 22-year-old is partly owned by Real Betis and has been spending this season on loan at the Seville side.

Barcelona’s financial problems are much-publicised and they are looking to raise funds by selling some of their players.

They signed Emerson with their Spanish counterpart from Atletico Mineiro in 2019 and he has continued to develop his game away from Nou Camp.

Estadio Deportivo says the 22-year-old has many suitors and Tottenham is one of them.

Jose Mourinho has struggled with his right-back options in this campaign and has been forced to bench both Serge Aurier and Matt Doherty in recent games in favour of academy graduate, Japhet Tanganga.

The Special One might demand reinforcements in that position at the end of this season.

Spurs would face competition from PSG, Inter Milan and AC Milan for Emerson’s signature.

The Catalans value him at £21million, a fee that Spurs should be able to raise, especially if they sell one of their current right-backs in the summer.

Whatever fee is paid for his signature, Barcelona would have to split it with Betis, unless they buy them out for £5.2m in the summer.
