In what is clearly a holding manoeuver, English football has opted to suspend all games in all professional leagues until the 6th of April. Obviously, this is not a situation that will be resolved in a couple of weeks, the legal ramifications alone could last for months.

The financial implications for smaller clubs are likely to be unpalatable. Indeed, most sides are dependent upon gate receipts in order to simply get by. Postponing games without a defined strategy will severely test the nerves of most owners.
