Tottenham’s preparation for the new season has seen mixed results thus far. The friendlies against Bayern Munich, we were told, are part of the Harry Kane sale. The first game of the tie saw Spurs struggle and ultimately lose, despite a second-half rally which was largely down to the Germans slowly removing their better players.
The one truly bright aspect for Ange Postecoglou was how Tottenham attempted to mount a comeback, courtesy of a wonder strike from Pedro Porro. This was reminiscent of his goal against Burnley last season, which, of course, Vincent Kompany of all people will remember well. The right-sided player picked up the ball 30 yards out, just to the right of the box, and thundered the ball across the face of the goalkeeper. It was the only moment of the game where Spurs looked to be in the same division as the Bundesliga giants.
The summer window may well be a fraught time of year for football fans, but footballers themselves, are always looking for new ways to spend that big chunk of the day that isn’t spent training and practising. Many Tottenham players engage in various hobbies during their downtime,
including online gaming and instant withdrawals of fast payout online casino NZ have proved to be a popular choice, with payout speed being a crucial part of the process.
As ever with Tottenham, some business has been done, and despite all the hoo-ha from the press early on, one gets the sense that significant advances within the squad look unlikely to be made. We were advised targets had been prioritised early on, but that now appears to have been rather convenient wording around the signing of Leeds United’s eighteen-year-old starlet Archie Gray. It was Gray, incidentally, who was particularly mundane against Bayern, last week, with Sofascore awarding him a very low performance score of just 6.4.
Arguably, what Spurs need is another striker who can offer more than either the burn-out Timo Werner or the troubled Richarlison.
A few weeks ago, Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg was finally sold. Perhaps the Dane wasn’t the best fit for the supposed ‘Ange Ball’ system, but who does that leave on the bench for Big Ange, when the chips are down in the middle of the park, when the chips are down.
The club obviously has no control over what is published in the press, but perhaps they might tighten the leash on their press officers, who clearly fuel so many daft suggestions.
The last two weeks might be fun.
