Spurs started preparing for Kane’s exit since February and even held Haaland talks

Spurs fans were stunned when news broke in the last few days that Harry Kane has asked to leave.

Their beloved vice-captain and loyal player has had enough of failure and finally wants to join another club.

Kane has won all kinds of individual honours while playing for Spurs, but the team prizes have continued to elude him.

The England captain’s decision to leave may have come as a surprise to some of the club’s fans, but it seems Spurs have been preparing for the worst for a long time now.

After watching their promising start to the season fall apart in 2021, the club knew that Kane could ask to leave and started making alternative plans to replace him from February.

Mail Online says Spurs thought about the possibility of losing the World Cup top scorer and enquired about Borussia Dortmund’s Erling Haaland.

However, they were put off by his wage demands believed to be in the region of £350,000-a-week.

They have since turned their attention towards Manchester City’s Gabriel Jesus and Manchester United’s Anthony Martial, according to the same report.

Both teams have been linked with a move for Kane and they could use the strikers as bargaining chips to make losing Kane less painful to Spurs while they search for a replacement.
