Spurs said to be ahead of PSG for ‘Brazilian all-rounder’ but Levy needs a better price

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the Porto forward Pepe in the last few days.

The 26-year-old Brazilian reportedly has a £64 million release clause in his contract and Tottenham are unwilling to match the asking price.

A report from MercadoAzul claims that the representatives of the ‘Brazilian all-rounder’ are now heading back to Porto in order to convince the Portuguese outfit to reduce their asking price for the player.

Paris Saint-Germain are keen on signing the player as well but Spurs are reportedly ahead of them in the transfer race.

Daniel Levy has a reputation for being a shrewd negotiator and he will not want to pay over the odds for the Brazilian attacker.

It will be interesting to see if Tottenham can sign him for a reasonable price in the next few days.

The 26-year-old has been a key player for Porto scoring 5 goals and picking up 10 assists across all competitions last season.

He is versatile enough to operate on either flank and a central attacking midfielder as well.

The opportunity to move to Spurs will be an exciting option for him and he will be tempted to join the London club. Time will tell whether the two clubs can come to an agreement over a fee now.

Tottenham could certainly use quality attacking reinforcements after the departure of Harry Kane.

They cannot expect to replace the England international with just one signing and they must look to bring in multiple players in order to replace his creative and goal-scoring output.
