Spurs Plotting Sale Of Defender – Top Spanish Side Gearing Up To Fund Transfer

Interesting piece here from Gol Digital which suggests that the Dávinson Sánchez experiment may be drawing to a close. The Colombian has notably improved since the removal of Eric Dier, but overall the £40million price tag is one that has weighed a little heavily over him during his 4 years at Tottenham.

El Gol understands that Spurs are looking to recoup their investment and that despite the 240year-old’s existing deal running to 2024, the club would be willing to listen to agreeable offers without overplaying the leverage of his contract.

The prospective transfer to Sevilla FC would be funded by the sale of Jules Koundé, who has apparently caught the eye of one Zinedine Zidane at Real Madrid, according to Gol.

I take a view that Spurs’ backline has lurched from one disaster to another and perhaps now is not the time to start bickering over the occasional merits of this player or that. Toby is 32 – in fact, I might just start subliminally adding that to every article to see if the message can ever be fully understood. With a distinct question mark over Eric Dier’s head, that leaves Tottenham with a significant rebuild to undertake. Would the £40million even be spent in the right areas, or at all?

What about ‘World Beating Training Facilities’? I realize we’d need to speak to the Premier League about approval to shorten his name as it would appear on the back of his shirt, but perhaps he could do a job if Dávinson were to be sold?

Doesn’t matter either way. Club still has to pay Ajax £40m for him. Issue is, how much are Sevilla prepared to stump up for him?

As for Toby, it was barely more than a year ago that everybody here was losing their minds at the prospect of him leaving. Did nobody then wonder if he might be beginning to get on a bit?

Toby by a clear mile is our best defender mostly by his reading of the play. It is clearly shown that dier and sanchez together don’t work but put Toby in with either and the stats change. To loose Toby at the season end while keeping dier is asking for trouble. For me I would loose dier problem is he is not classed as homegrown so might not bring the same fee as sanchez.

With these defenders leaving I’m guessing Japhet has a heap of expectation on him for next season, though getting a real leader in our back row would be key to improv, met in Sanchez’s performances because regardless of Toby’s ability he’s not really a leader (what how he gets confused at times when PEH gives out the orders)

What’s wrong with installments? Most clubs do it. Did you think we paid it all in one hit cash?

Is Gascoigne gonna have a crack?

Sanchez was another Installment job, even for 40 mill….I said when he came he’ll be gone before Levys paid off the fee…..

Like I said at the moment sanchez is playing better and deserves his place ahead of dier which is not saying much. My fear is dier stays while Toby and sanchez go.
