Confirmed Spurs XI vs Newcastle

By The Boy -

LAST TIME OUT Newcastle United host Tottenham Hotspur in matchday 30 of the Premier League on Sunday 4th April, 2:05 pm at St. James’ Park. The hosts currently sit in 17th place in the table having lost against Brighton and Hove Albion 3-0 last time out, while the visitors are in 7th after their 0-2 win against Aston Villa.

4 TIMES A LADY? Spurs arrive in Newcastle on the back of 3 Premier League away wins at Sid James’ Park – the Lilywhites have apparently never won 4 on the bounce on the Tyne.

COUNTER ATTACKERS Tottenham have scored 10 goals from direct attacks this season, more than any other side in the division so far. A direct attack is when the ball starts within a team’s own half and contains at least 50% of the ball’s movement

That draw was entirely predictable once I saw lo noso not subbed at half time… Mourinho further compounded that with his use of subs..no way did Son have 45 mins of premier league football in his legs… Sanchez was awful today…Tobys distribution & awareness was sorely missed.., dont see us finishing any higher than 7th.

Could do with a contribution from Son after a brilliant first half of the season he’s been off the pace.

That’s true, but I was referring to the deflection which popped straight back their player just before he passed to their scorer. That’s how I saw it but I’ll have to see it again.

It was impressive. Amazing what footballers can achieve when standing up.

I thought he had real potential after a great first season. Incredible how he has regressed.

He was completely switched off for the first 25 minutes or so. Seemed marginally better then.

The goal they scored was much more self-inflicted than the one we did. If Japhet or Sanchez manage not to hit the guy in front of them with clearances, we don’t concede.

Sanchez has given me more grey hairs.

Yes that’s right; the fact that the ball deflected off a defender and the keeper from point blank range and fell perfectly in the path of Kane was entirely due to the terrible failures of both Newcastle players. Same with the deflections prior to their goal.

Two goals which only came about because of lucky ricochets.

Rodon looks five times more interesting than Sanchez already.

They are getting through us far too easily, and Newcastle are not exactly decent.

I get Toby is ageing and may be a bit stiff but a certain part of me (the 46 yr old ego) wishes you would lay off the “he’s 32” mantra- the rapidly decreasing cut off for being declared past it is another strange pundit standard. I have referred, albeit without my reading glasses, to my Panini sticker books 80- 85 and to a man they are moustachioed and mostly in their early 40s. probably.

I don’t share that view.. I cant think of any one good thing he does well consistently… he’ll be subbed on 60-65 I suspect.

Lo Celso is a brilliant player, just like Tanguy, and once they’re used to playing together and with PEH, our midfield is sorted.

Fair enough 😂 I suppose it’s not too demanding to play three international games in a week, compared to the PL.

I like the team selection, not sold on lo celso on right… would rather if he started hes on the left…as time after time today attacks will break down due to his inability to use his right foot…at least on the left he can in theory cross the ball on his stronger foot on his natural side

Agree just add Doherty to that list.

So is Toby injured.? If not he should be playing. We cannot afford to drop any points and we have just one game a week. We have to start with our best eleven every match and we have to start with maximum intensity and press. We look to rest and rotate in the second half if we are in control of the match. Our problems are defensively at the back so keep a stable CB pairing. That means Toby has to be involved with either Rodon or Sanchez and keep Dier, Davies, Sissoko and Winks away from any selection.

Must win game in my opinion.

We should be doing this week in, week out, now that we don’t have any cup commitments. Keep the likes of Dier, Sissoko and Doherty out of the team.

Keeping the same lineup from Villa? I like it!

Where’s Toby though? He played all three games for Belgium and now he’s not even on the bench? Worrying…
