Spurs new boy Micky van de Ven shows heartwarming gesture to London rival

Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber picked up a serious injury on his Premier League debut with the Gunners and he is set to be sidelined for an extended period.

Tottenham Hotspur signing Micky van de Ven is now winning hearts with his classy message to the 22-year-old defender on Instagram.

The Arsenal defender took to Instagram to share a message following his injury blow and van de Ven responded to his countryman with a heart emoji.

The Tottenham defender’s decision to put the rivalry aside and share some sympathy towards Timber will certainly endear him to the fans.

Tottenham signed the defender from Wolfsburg earlier this season and he was quite impressive against Brentford on his Premier League debut.

The Dutchman will hope to establish himself as a key player for Tottenham in the coming months.

Spurs conceded 63 goals in the league last season and they will need to tighten up defensively in order to get back into the top four and qualify for the Champions League.

Judging by his debut, van de Ven could be an important player for Ange Postecoglou this season and it remains to be seen whether he can form a solid and reliable partnership alongside Cristian Romero.

As for Arsenal, the injury to Timber will come as a major blow for them and it remains to be seen whether the Gunners decide to dip into the transfer market once again for a central defender.

Arsenal need to bring in defensive reinforcements, especially with the way their title challenge collapsed towards the end of last season.

An injury to William Saliba derailed their title race last year and they were hoping to make amends with the signing of Timber.
