Spurs need to snatch ‘Very, very talented’ attacker or risk losing him warns Alasdair Gold

By Mehdi Gokal -

According to journalist Alasdair Gold, Spurs could move swiftly to sign highly-rated Gent striker Gift Orban.

Reports in the last 24 hours have suggested that Tottenham are on the verge of making a formal offer for Orban.

Evening Standard’s Dan Kilpatrick and CaughtOffside have both indicated that Tottenham are expected to make a move for Orban before the transfer window closes with the latter claiming that a formal move could be made ‘in the coming days‘.

Gent manager Hein Vanhaezebrouck has too admitted that the club could be forced to sell the striker for financial reasons as they will need cash to strengthen their squad enough to remain competitive.

Alasdair Gold has now added his insight, noting that Tottenham are aware of the need to act quickly if they want to secure Orban’s signing. He emphasised the competition from other clubs and the realisation that a delay could result in missing out on the player.

Speaking on his YouTube channel, he said (1:18:22 – 1:19:10):

“I wonder if they go for a Gift Orban. Gift Orban we know they like. He’s 21 years old, he can play through the middle, out wide, as a support striker, very, very talented, prolific already.

It’s the Belgian League so you have to have a bit of calm about that, maybe hold fire on that slightly about him being an absolute sensation.

I imagine that Spurs will try to do something with him, I think there’s a realisation now that if they don’t do this now others will get in there and get him straight away.”

Gift Orban would no doubt be an excellent signing for Tottenham. Last season he scored 20 goals and assisted 2 in 22 appearances and this season he has continued his fine form. He has already scored 5 goals in 4 games across all competitions.

His potential signing could be a significant boost for Tottenham.
