Spurs Must Start Lamela Against Bayern München

Erik Lamela has been one of the most frustrating Tottenham signings of the last 30 years.

That, really is saying something.

However, this season, it isn’t sensationalism to say that the boy has been somewhat of a revelation.

In no particular order, here are some examples of the high standards that the 27-year-old has brought to his game in the 2019/20 season.

Against the Foxes. Lamela lost the ball on just 4 occasions, a stark contrast to characters such as Son, Eriksen and his holiness, Harry Kane.

Against Leicester City, Lamela was a damn menace in the attacking third, creating 3 chances for Spurs.

Against Palace, Erik proved that so called luxury players can’t put a shift in. Recovering the ball tells any manager they have a man in the shirt who genuinely cares.

The Argentine’s passing accuracy has routinely been pitching in the eightieth percentile this season – hitting 90% in the North London Derby, on the 1st of September.

The case for starting Erik Lamela is a compelling one.
