Spurs miss deadline to sign Bundesliga striker for a cheaper fee

Tottenham has missed a good chance to sign Borussia Monchengladbach striker, Marcus Thuram cheaply, according to reports.

The Frenchman has emerged as a target for the Lilywhites as they look to bolster their squad ahead of next season.

He is currently with the France national team squad for Euro 2020, such is his impressive performances that they chose him ahead of Anthony Martial.

After missing out on the top four last season, Tottenham is now keen to build a team that can get back inside the Champions League places.

They signed Carlos Vinicius on loan from Benfica as a backup to Harry Kane last season.

The Brazilian didn’t impress enough to earn a permanent transfer and they might sign Thuram now.

Kane could leave them for another club after informing the Lilywhites of his desire to join a club where he can win more trophies.

If they are serious about Thuram, then they have to be prepared to pay some good money for his signature.

This is because Bild reports that there was a deadline for Tottenham to sign him in a cut-price deal of around £26 million.

It says Spurs allowed the deadline to pass before deciding on his future, and they would have to pay more money for him now.
