Spurs know exactly the type of player they want to sign in the summer claims report

By Bruce Grove -

Tottenham will be in the market for a new defender when the transfer window reopens and they know exactly what they want.

One of their top priorities last summer was signing a new centre back. They brought in Joe Rodon, but his signing was because they couldn’t get their priority target.

The Lilywhites will now try to sign a better defender when the transfer window reopens and Football Insider says they want a pacy centre-back.

The report says that the Lilywhites have set their sights on signing a new centre-back that is quick, commanding and can slot straight into their defence for the next campaign.

Spurs made a great start to this campaign and they continue to do well in attack.

The partnership of Harry Kane and Son Heung-min has been helping them flourish as a team, but they don’t enjoy anything similar at the back.

This is one reason why they have had a poor season and they will look to correct that when the transfer window reopens.

A new commanding defender could give them assurance at the back and help their attacking players flourish under a boss next season.

Joe Rodon has worked out. He’s done very well in the criminally few games he’s played. Mason has brought back in his mate Dier with predictable results.

This is a very good insight into transfer dealings at Spurs. We’re apparently (not that I believe we’re actually buying anybody) planning transfers without even having a manager. Just goes to show how much say the manager has when it comes to transfer dealings at Spurs. With Hitchen and Levy in charge of talent spotting and transfers no wonder we’re fukced.

Lloris has been in good form since Jose took over.

We were spoilt at the back with Jan & Toby in their prime. How many did we concede in our last season at WHL – 14ish? Incredible. Shame JR hasn’t worked out but give him & Doherty time to integrate. Get an experienced CB in to spread the load.

They need more than the one defender, they need two centre backs for starters, then they need a right back, and to be honest they need to upgrade the keeper position, Lloris has too many mistakes in him. Then we need a top class striker to back up Kane, I said back up Kane cause that needs to be a priority, keeping Kane and Sonny, selling our top assets to fund the rebuild is a massive mistake Levy has made over and over again, you need to keep your top players and add to them, then we may have a chance of actually challenging for honours.

Budget is the three buttons and a Curly Wurley that Danny Boy found in his desk drawer. May rule out Varane and VVD perhaps.
