Spurs in trouble as Fabrizio Romano shares worrying news regarding star player

Tottenham’s season has taken a turn for the worse as they have been hit with another injury blow.

Star midfielder, Rodrigo Bentancur, is set to miss six to eight months of action after suffering an ACL tear during the recent 4-1 defeat against Leicester City.

This news was confirmed by Italian journalist, Fabrizio Romano, on Twitter.

He tweeted:

Tottenham midfielder Rodrigo Bentancur will miss the rest of the season — he’s gonna need 6/7 months to recover after ACL injury.

The injury to Bentancur comes as the fourth this week for the club, with Hugo Lloris ruled out for six weeks with a knee injury, Yves Bissouma undergoing surgery for a stress fracture, and Ryan Sessegon picking up a hamstring injury.

This latest injury is expected to be a huge blow for the club, as Bentancur has been their star player this season and now leaves them short in the midfield.

This unfortunate series of events presents an opportunity for some of the club’s younger players such as Oliver Skipp and Pape Matar Sarr to step up and fill the void left by Bentancur and Bissouma.

However, with Hojbjerg as the only senior midfielder available, Tottenham could be in trouble for their upcoming Champions League match against AC Milan.

Conte will be forced to field an inexperienced midfield against the Italian giants, as Hojberg will be suspended for the first leg.

Spurs fans will feel frustrated that the club did not bring in another midfielder in the January transfer window.

According to a recent report, they made a late move for Barcelona midfielder Franck Kessie but the player rejected the move as he wanted to stay and fight for his place under Xavi.
