Spurs given small boost as Everton’s key man remains sidelined

Tottenham has been given a minor boost in their bid to beat Everton when both teams meet in the Premier League this evening with Dominic Calvert-Lewin set to miss the game.

The England international has been one of the leading scorers in the Premier League this season and his goals are some of the reasons why Everton has maintained a challenge for the European places.

He has scored 14 goals in 26 Premier League games for the Toffees in this campaign to become a key part of their plans.

He missed their last game against Brighton with an abductor problem and Mail Sport reports that he has still not made a full recovery.

Spurs need to beat Everton to close the gap on the teams above them in the race for the European places.

Jose Mourinho’s side is still targeting a top-four place and they need to win their remaining games to achieve that.

They would face Southampton after Everton and that will be another tricky test, but beating Carlo Ancelotti’s side would help boost their confidence ahead of that game.

Spurs are currently 7th on the league table on 49 points. They have just a point more than Everton and have played a game more.
