Spurs gets transfer boost as Sabitzer tells Leipzig he wants transfer

Tottenham has targeted a move for Marcel Sabitzer for quite a while now and the Austrian remains on their radar.

He has impressed for RB Leipzig and might not be with them beyond this summer.

The German side has been losing some of their best players recently with Ibrahima Konate and Dayot Upamecano both leaving the club for Liverpool and Bayern Munich, respectively.

Sabitzer might become the next player to leave them with a new report claiming that he has told them he is open to leaving if the right offer comes.

The Athletic claims he has told the club he wants a new challenge after spending more than half a decade with them.

Spurs have long targeted him and the Daily Mail says they didn’t sign him before now because they were unwilling to meet his £43m release clause.

But he is entering the final 12 months of his current deal and that has reduced his transfer value to just £15m.

That fee should be affordable to Tottenham as they look to bolster their squad again despite spending some good money on the team under Jose Mourinho last summer.

He is one of several players that the club may sign before next season begins.
