Spurs ‘could take advantage’ of opportunity and ‘hijack’ 29-yr-old’s move

Tottenham Hotspur have been linked with a move for the French midfielder Jordan Veretout this summer.

According to a report from L’Equipe via Football London, the 29-year-old Roma midfielder could be available for a fee of around £13 million and the Premier League side are keeping tabs on him.

Harry Winks has been linked with a move away from Spurs before the transfer window closes and Antonio Conte will have to bring in an alternative if the 26-year-old decides to move on in search of regular first-team football.

The Roma midfielder could prove to be a quality acquisition for the London club.

Veretout is an experienced midfielder who will add calmness and composure to the heart of Tottenham’s midfield. The Frenchman is an impressive passer of the ball and he can be quite effective with his set-piece prowess.

The Roma midfielder contributed to four goals and eight assists in the Serie A last season and he would certainly be a more productive option in the midfield as compared to Winks.

Furthermore, the reported £13 million asking price seems like a bargain for a player in his prime.

Apparently, Marseille are interested in signing the player as well but Tottenham ‘could take advantage of this opportunity’ and ‘hijack’ the move.

It remains to be seen whether Tottenham follow up with a concrete offer for the midfielder in the coming weeks now. The Premier League side have done some impressive business so far and the 29-year-old’s arrival would cap off a highly impressive window for them.
