Spurs’ Confirmed XI vs Nottingham Forest [Sessegnon dropped] graphic

By The Boy -

My biggest pet hate in respect of football, and there are many, has to be utterly irrelevant factoids. This fixture has seen Forest’s top flight record against Spurs doing the rounds. Today’s hosts have won six of the last nine clashes between the pair. The last time we played this lot was in the 1998/99 season, and so this has less than zero relevance to anyone.

What’s of more use, even after just a handful of games is that Tottenham is currently unbeaten, whereas Forest has only secured 4 points from a possible 9.

Unhappy with himself, his performance, and it’s horrible to be taken off when you’re not used to it… Some get angry, some nearly cry, some sulk…
The rare times I was taken off (usually because I was on a yellow and on the verge) I would react by being extremely quiet. I just wouldn’t speak for hours after… Fuming with myself usually… Lol

Incidentally, how nice to see a new player famous for being a nuisance or falling over, using a surprising blend of subtle skill and intelligence to create a goal.

Strange one, innit? If Conte wanted a lightweight tricky winger, he’d be playing Bryan Gil.

I love that he’s a wind up merchant, top class sh*thousery. Are you not entertained? The moaning from Forest’s weirdo looking manager was the cherry on the cake.

They seem to be playing a bit flat-footed off the ball. Like they are still thinking out and processing their individual roles. Results in hard first touches, slow movement off the ball, slightly mistimed passes.

Will get better with time if that is the case.

I see the potential for Kulu to drop into a transfer role as well. He has the skillset for it.

So it’s deadline day today? A top signing would be marvellous. Not holding my breath though..
I find Contes nicknaming of our players hilarious.. Sonny, Hobby, Winky, Reggy, Richy, Cuti, Harry…. Sounds like Spursy streamlined..

Reg and Winks are finally leaving. Does this mean we will have one or two more incoming? Savic would be ideal.

We have to hope Antonio rings the changes on Wednesday night. Son should be benched. Spence should maybe be given a longer run and Bissouma should start. Hopefully Romero is fit and can slot back in defence.

i’m becoming a Richi convert. He’s made the difference with each performance. What I enjoyed was his attitude to the second ball for the second goal. We’ve needed a player like this for ages. Hopefully more to come.

JimmyGrievance
JimmyGrievance

Behave ! He’s only had cameo appearances so far and has actually made a difference in all of them.

Sess completely mucked that cross up yesterday, Kane had his head in his hands. Richi kept the game alive the rest is history.

I’m no Richi fan but give credit where it’s due.

Oh yes I came on to complain about Sessegnon
WHat is the Spurs fan split on this about 80%?
He will never make it I dont see how Conte rates him above Reguilon but roll on next season we will have 2 very good LWBs.

I take the stats with a pinch of salt if a header flashes a few inches wide I presume it goes in the “shots” column not the “on target” column whereas if a lame shot goes at Lloris
We are conceding too many chances that fortunately none of the 4 teams we have played have a top striker.
Good shout by the poster below about Kulu in m/f he is strong & languid (not box2box) Dembele was like that.
2 clean sheets in 4 is good as well.

That cross to Kane was sublime it was like they were on the training pitch trying things out
I know he is a fighter but I didnt know he had such skill.
Kane was HP especially as Sessegnon had cocked one up just before that.

Sessegnon was poor , Son was poor , Dier , Davies , Davinson bang average , Kulusevic producing only sporadically , Kane is Kane , Benty and Peh adequate but not star quality .
Score 2-0 to Spurs , about as right as many pre-match predictions . This is not Spurs at their ‘flying’ best and we do not look threatened .
There are bigger tests to come and if we can produce in those crucial games , confidence will surge throughout the squad . There is so much more to come , I’d guess we’re running at 80% right now and very encouraged for the rest of the season …….. C O Y S !!!!!1

I’m so glad it got emphasised in the headline that Sessegnon got dropped. He did nothing starting the last game v Wolves, NOTHING.

It was almost as if he wasn’t on the pitch. The commentator kept swearing at him in Croatian, calling him a Perisic.

Praise be we have a stickler for detail like The Boy to give us the real story, not what the MSM want us to hear

He means shots on target… Forrest had one. We had seven.
They had 17 shots to our 18.
They would have scored if Hugo didn’t dash off his line to fingertip the cross in second half. They had a few other moments as well but were either blocked or pressured enough to not even hit their shots on target.

We made hard work of it. We looked slow lethargic. But look at the expected goals. I think that tells you what you need to know. There’s more than one way to win a football match.

I think Richarleson needs a start ahead of Kulusevski (although Kulu was better in this game than the last few) and when Bissouma is settled he needs to start ahead of Bentancur.

On another note, could Kulusevski one day be the heir to Dembele in centre mid? He’s strong, keeps the ball well under close control in tight situations and carries forward well. Just a thought…..

CzechSpur

All in all, we defended a lot more than I’d want us to, but we did that reasonably well, conceding just one on target – even though it’s difficult to tell if that means we’re actually okay defensively or if Forest were incompetent. Probably a bit of both.

Son needs to sit one out. He’s completely transformed and not for the better. Richarlison had more of an impact in this game than Son has this season. Let’s see him start on Wednesday.

Our counters were weird today. We could have scored four in the first half alone, and we messed up a few other decent positions by taking too much time on the ball, misjudging passes etc.

Kane missing a penalty proves that he, too, is a human being (but he was probably just distracted by Tuchel in their goal).

Sanchez and Royal still worry me immensely. Sessegnon sadly showed that HH might be right in calling him a competition winner.

But hey, another clean sheet!

Pleased to see Sanchez have a quietly faultless game; from what I saw he gave the ball away fewer times than all the other defenders and Pierre. But then I’m no professional stats collector.

Conte knows that to win matches you score more than the opposition. That’s it.
Defend well, score when you get the chances.
Play pretty possession football like Forest did, tire yourselves out after 60 minutes, then lose and get credits from the pundits for a great performance. But nil points.

Not the game I saw. We lost the ball on too many occasions, fluffed our chances and allowed them too much of the ball, especially in our defensive third. I’ll take the win, not the performance.

Looking forward to the statistics that show that Richarliosn had a terrible game and was a cr*p buy, even though ‘to my eye’ his introduction changed the nature of the match, added more energy to our attack and led directly to the 2nd goal.
