Spurs attempts to sign Chelsea star being thwarted but player wants the move

Chelsea defender, Antonio Rudiger is keen to move to Tottenham this summer, but his transfer is being held up by members of Chelsea’s hierarchy.

The German defender has emerged as a target for Spurs in this transfer window as the Lilywhites look for an alternative to Milan Skriniar.

Skriniar remains Spurs’ top target in this transfer window and the Inter Milan defender also appears to be open to the move.

But Spurs are struggling to agree on a fee for his signature, and they have Rudiger on their mind if their pursuit of Skriniar fails.

The Metro claims that Rudiger wants to be on the plane with the Germany national team for EURO21 and he knows that he will have to play constantly before that will be possible.

He wants the move to Spurs, but both teams have hardly exchanged players since Roman Abramovic bought the West London side.

The report adds that some top figures at Chelsea are against him making the move away from the club entirely as they think he is better off staying and they would rather allow Fikayo Tomori to leave them on loan.

Having landed a backup striker for Mourinho, Spurs will likely spend much of the remaining days of this transfer window looking to land a new centre-back.
