Spurs at the 2026 World Cup finals

The 2026 FIFA World Cup Finals are beginning to take shape, with over half of the 48 places secured by nations around the globe, with a few group games and potential play-off matches remaining.

After the latest round of international matches in October, betting expert and lifelong Lilywhite fans, Del Pugh from BookiesBonuses.com has a look at those Spurs players who look destined to appear in next Summer’s event, along with players who are still in the mix to represent their nation on the world’s biggest footballing stage, the FIFA World Cup.

The Qualifiers (So far)

Cristian Romero (Argentina)

“Cuti” helped the champions Argentina secure their qualifying place in relative ease,
finishing top of the group and nine points clear of Ecuador. After being made club
captain, Romero has had a strong start to the season in football and discipline terms,
and hopefully that continues throughout the season, as he develops his partnership
with Micky Van De Ven in the heart of the Spurs defence.

Mohamed Kudus (Ghana)

The winger scored two goals during the campaign, as the Black Stars secured top
spot and an automatic place by six points. Kudus scored twice in the group, including
the winner against the Comoros. After scoring his first Spurs goal against Leeds
recently, exciting times could be ahead for the pacey star.

Djed Spence (England)

Played in the recent 5-0 victory that saw England progress to the finals. Now with 3
caps under his belt and the versatility to play on both flanks, Spence has become an
indispensable player for both club and country, with even more to come.

Rodrigo Bentancur (Uruguay)

A stalwart in both the Spurs and Uruguay midfield, Bentancur helped Uruguay qualify
for the finals, playing in a midfield three alongside De Arrascaeta and Valverde. He
will appear in his third World Cup Finals and will be hoping to stay injury-free.

Richarlison (Brazil)

The striker featured for the Selecao on eight occasions during qualifying, but failed to
contribute towards any of the 24 goals scored with goals or assists. After a solid start
to the season, Richy’s form has tapered off, and with younger players coming
through, his place could be in jeopardy.

Kota Takai (Japan)

Made four appearances for the Blue Samurai during qualification and looks set to be
included in the squad, having featured in the U-20 and U-23 sides previously. Game
time will be important, although he is currently out with a foot injury. A loan may be
the better option in the second half of the season to help him prepare for the finals.

Yang Min-Hyeok (Korea Republic)

Since joining from Gangwon, the Korean has been on loan in the Championship to
Q.P.R. and now Portsmouth, where he has scored twice in four appearances for
Pompey. After making his full international debut against Jordan in March, he will be
hoping to catch the eye of head coach Hong Myung-Bo.

form, including
