Spurs are making “frequent” contact with Italian manager’s entourage

Spurs are serious about naming Maurizio Sarri as their next manager with reports in Italy claiming that the Lilywhites have been in touch with his entourage.

Sarri has been out of work since last summer when Juventus relieved him of his duties.

The Italian spent just a season with them and won the Italian league as well as reaching the final of the Italian Cup.

However, his team fell short in the Champions League and was eliminated from the Round-of-16 stage by Lyon.

That proved to be his undoing and the Old Lady replaced him with Andrea Pirlo before this season started.

Spurs have just sacked Jose Mourinho after their 2-2 draw against Everton made it tougher for them to finish the season inside the top four.

They have made Ryan Mason their interim manager, but they are almost certain to replace him in the summer and Calciomercato says Sarri will likely be their next permanent boss.

The report says the correspondence between Tottenham and his representatives have been “frequent”.

The London side has been holding talks with his agent, Fali Ramadani and they hope to agree over the summer so that he can take charge from the start of next season.
