Spurs announce government approval for safe standing from tomorrow onwards

Tottenham Hotspur Football Club has just emailed fans announcing that for the first time in about 30 years, standing supporters will be seen again in England’s top flight of football.

The first game at Spurs to enjoy the readjustment of the law will be Morecambe in the cup on Sunday, 9th of January.

The future-proofed seats at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium are in the South Stand, so not ‘anyone’ can take advantage of the new option.

According to information garnered by the club prior to the Covid pandemic, in the 2019/20 season, seats with barriers helped reduce safety risks.

I take a view that this is a most welcome announcement, and also predict an indecent squabble over who is now ‘most’ to thank. Another consideration is how many fans might find themselves a little fatigued when offered an hour and a half of standing.

More cosmetics – hurrah – now let’s focus upon building a side that is worth getting to one’s feet for.

Higher priced ‘exclusive retro standing tickets’ more like.

Lol, though my memory of staytanding was struggling to see past people and the fencing.

…… is how many fans might find themselves a little fatigued when offered an hour and a half of standing.

Especially if the standing price is the same as a seat.
