Spanish Press shares details of how Barça swooped to take Adama Traoré from Spurs

During the January transfer window, the never-ending saga linking Tottenham Hotspur to former Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Adama Traoré. Eventually, that saga resulted in the 26-year-old heading to FC Barcelona.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Traoré turned down a significant offer from Tottenham before signing with Barcelona. The north London club offered the Spain international a great contract.

Barça came when Traoré was nearly sealing the agreement with the Premier League club, and it changed everything. The Spanish media outlet adds that money wasn’t the sole motivation in his decision.

As a result, he stopped the negotiation with the ‘Spurs’ to listen to Xavi and Barcelona’s proposal. It took very little for the Catalan side to convince him because the footballer saw it as an opportunity.

The La Liga club completed the loan move for Traoré, which has an option to buy him in the summer for £29.1 million. Furthermore, The Athletic reported that the forward was unsure about the possibility of playing right wing-back.

Nonetheless, Spurs did secure a swoop for Juventus duo Dejan Kulusevski and Rodrigo Bentancur.
