So Many Fans Really Agree That One Player Shouldn’t Start Against Palace Tonight

By The Boy -

I understand the whole fan engagement debacle, and largely believe it to be a thorough waste of time. Do you remember a few years ago when corporations threw real money at trying to get hashtags to trend? The reason they’ve heavily cut back on this approach was down to it be a pretty artificial and soulless practice that didn’t achieve the end game of shifting the volumes of units people had hoped for.

So when THFC ask who do you want to see, I’m pretty certain that they are looking to find out something a teensy bit more sinister than whom you want to see play. This is market research to gauge all fan reactions – good and bad.

For context, I was in a pizza place in Dublin one time and a little card arrived with the bill. It asked a handful of questions that effectively allowed me to either enhance our servers’ career or throw them under a fast-moving train.

Me being me – I upvoted for the poor server relentlessly and left a brief note on the card outlining my contempt for this ruse designed to take the word of a stranger, with the purpose of then performance managing the individual concerned out the door. I bet head-office loved my note.

Judge each case on its merits, I say. Eric Dier must go.

I’d be very happy if we can transfer those 4 out in the summer there as to be better players we can buy especially if we can get into champs league

The knowledgable fans know which players aren’t good enough and it’s the same candidates again and again. Dier, Davies, Winks and Doherty. No doubt in my mind that Tanganga is a better player than Doherty and if Aurier is injured then Jose should play him instead of the Irishman.

Thought Doherty had a stronger performance tonight, seem to get up and back and looked more comfortable on the ball, but we all know having a settled back four makes a lot of difference

I would stick with Toby and Sanchez at the back and rotate with Rodon and Toby. I would give Tanganga a rotation with Aurier as I think he could do a job for us there. Personally I would be happy to never see Davies, Dier or Docherty anywhere near the first eleven again

Someone needs to decide whether Tanganga is a Centre half or full back and develop him accordingly. I’d get him and Rodon and cultivate a CB partnership….. suicide? Maybe. Better than Dier/youngster/Toby/Sanchez perpetual rotation? Certainly.

Before I even scrolled down I knew it was Dier. Summer can’t come quickly enough for him.
