Sky Sports pundits says poster boy ‘looks like a proper Tottenham player’ in every respect

By The Boy -

There’s no two ways about it, Ange Postecoglou’s early days in N17 have been hugely aided in his efforts by the vital addition of the new blood that he managed to inject into the Tottenham Hotspur first-team squad. Providing opportunities for the likes of Yves Bissouma and Pape Mata Sarr was to be commended, but the arrival of James Maddison has taken Big Ange’s proposition at Spurs to a new level.

Sky Sports’ Alan Smith spoke with The Boy Hotspur’s Substack and even the former Arsenal misery guts only had praise for the way the Englishman has slotted into life in N17.

James has had his private box decked out with wraps of him and his kids in Spurs shirts and the 26-year-old interviews very well when talking to the press. If he keeps delivering on the pitch for Tottenham, then fans will want him to start playing for England again. Surely Gareth Southgate couldn’t afford to overlook Madders for his squad for the European Championships. The Spurs midfielder has been in squads before and hasn’t been able to nail down a position in the team, perhaps his new role, as Big Ange’s main man could prompt a resurgence.

This leads us to a concern that Maddison is actually able to stay fit for us. James had one or two injury problems at Leicester last season, but when he was fit, he played well. At least twice so far, there have been moments of concern, but fingers crossed we don’t get handicapped!
