Sir Alex Ferguson gives a savage response when asked about Tottenham’s title chances

By Saikat -

Former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson has now delivered a brutal assessment of Tottenham’s title chances.

When asked whether the North London club will ever win the Premier League title, Ferguson said to the Sky Sports reporter Matt Chapman that the last time they won the league was more than 60 years ago and they have no chance of doing it now, especially with the competition from Liverpool and Manchester City.

Ferguson also added that it will be very difficult for Manchester United to win the league title as well.

“No, ’61 was the last time they won it, well that’s a long time,” Ferguson added.

“The opposition today with Liverpool and Manchester City being so powerful in the Premier League. Even for United now, we’re having to fight.”

However, his comments about Tottenham might come across as harsh, especially with the way the North London outfit are developing under Ange Postecoglou. They have put together an exciting young squad and they have placed special emphasis on recruiting top young talents from around Europe.

There is no doubt that they have a talented squad at their disposal and a charismatic manager in charge. They have impressed with their free-flowing attacking approach this season and it is fair to assume that Tottenham will only get better with coaching and experience.

They are well placed to return to the UEFA Champions League at the end of the season and there is no reason why they cannot compete for the league title in the coming seasons. With the right amount of investment and coaching, they could certainly develop into title contenders in the near future.
