Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Archie Gray has been linked with the move away from the club when the transfer window opens in January.

Spanish club Sevilla are keeping tabs on his situation and they could provide him with an exit route in January. They are hoping to sign the 18-year-old midfielder on loan.

Sevilla director Victor Orta knows all about the player having worked with him during their time together at Leeds United. He rates the 18-year-old highly and is hoping to bring him to the Spanish club for the remainder of the campaign.

Gray has struggled for regular gametime at Tottenham since his €40 million move to the Premier League club. According to a report from Mucho Deporte, Sevilla ‘have begun to work on the operation’. It will be interesting to see if they can convince the Premier League club to send him out during the second half of the season.

Archie Gray needs more exposure

The 18-year-old midfielder has played a total of 34 minutes in the Premier League so far. He needs more gametime in order to continue his development and fulfil his potential. A player of his calibre cannot afford to waste away on the bench.

He is versatile enough to operate as a defensive midfielder as well as a full-back. He could prove to be a quality acquisition for Sevilla if he manages to adapt to Spanish football. Regular game time in La Liga could prove to be invaluable for him, and it could accelerate his development.

If he manages to impress in the Spanish league during the second half of the season, he might get more opportunities at Tottenham next season. The 18-year-old is a prodigious talent with a bright future, and Tottenham must handle his development carefully. If they cannot offer him ample game time, it would be ideal to send him out on loan.
