Selling Serge Aurier is the only way Tottenham can sign Ligue 1 target

Tottenham has made signing a new right-back one of their top priorities this summer, and the Lilywhites have identified Lille’s Zeki Celik as one player to help them in that area.

They currently have just Serge Aurier as a natural right-back after they sold Kyle Walker-Peters to Southampton recently.

Their pursuit of Celik has intensified in recent weeks, but a new report from Bleacher Report claims that the only way the Gunners can land the young Turkish full-back is if they get rid of Aurier.

Aurier has had a very inconsistent time at Spurs as he remains one of their most error-prone players.

The Ivorian has featured greatly under Jose Mourinho because the special one has been left with almost no choice but to rely on him.

However, that might change this summer with the signing of Celik although the Lilywhites will have to get rid of the former PSG man first.

AC Milan has been credited with an interest in Aurier for some time now, but The Standard claims that the Italians have made a bid of £13 million, but the Lilywhites are holding out for £22 million.

Aurier is already 27 and this might be Spurs’ last chance to make some money from his sale, whereas 23-year-old Celik would be viewed as a long term acquisition.
