Tottenham Hotspur have been working on a deal to sign Radu Dragusin from Genoa in the last few days.
They were not the only club keen on signing the 21-year-old Romanian central defender, Bayern Munich were hoping to sign the player as well.
Fabrizio Romano has now confirmed that Tottenham have won the race for his signature. The player has reportedly chosen the North London club over a move to the Bundesliga.
According to Romano, Spurs will pay in excess of €30 million for the talented young defender and Djed Spence will join the Italian club on loan until the end of the season. The 23-year-old returned from his loan spell at Leeds United earlier this month and he will be hoping to get his career back on track with regular football in Italy now.
The development will come as a major boost for Tottenham who are in desperate need of defensive reinforcements. The 21-year-old Romanian defender should prove to be a long-term acquisition for them and it remains to be seen whether he can hit the ground running in the Premier League now.
Spurs have looked to vulnerable defensively in recent weeks, because of a number of injury problems at the back. They needed to sign a defender in order to tighten up defensively.
