Sacking Pochettino Isn’t A Solution

VAR is a force for good, but not if it’s used as a vanity project for pedants. Nonsensical calls for offside when digital imaging can prove a 3 mm violation does nobody any good.

The whole point about VAR was to rule out human error, not elevate it to a new height.

The City goal ruled offside was also offside, yet neither decision would have ruined the game.

In pre-VAR times, it is most likely that both goals would have drawn scrutiny from post match pundits, using the pause function on their big studio touch screens. But it’s ambitious to say that anyone would have dubbed either goal as a grievous miscarriage.

Spurs losing this game however, did not hinge upon either call.

It’s becoming increasingly obvious even the very dullest of fans, that all is not well at Tottenham, and that something has to give.

Pochettino’s press conferences have become uncomfortable viewing. Mauricio’s attitude increasingly suggests he’d walk into a job at the VAR offices.

Maybe a career change would shift that cloud over his head, help ease that stick out of his bottom?

Spurs have only won one Premier League match so far, the only other sides to match this miserable form are Newcastle United and the mighty Aston Villa.

If the season continues as it has started, then Pochettino is a prime candidate for the chop. No doubt about it.

Will that solve anything? Absolutely not, unless, ENIC were to sell up at the same time.

There’s nothing as luxurious as a binary ultimatum to be found at Spurs.
