‘Ryan mason got it completely wrong’ These Spurs fans react to Carabao Cup defeat

After seeing their hopes of finally ending their trophy drought ended by their 1-0 loss to Manchester City this evening, Spurs’ fans have reacted to the defeat.

Ryan Mason’s side withstood almost everything that Manchester City threw at them for more than 80 minutes before Aymeric Laporte scored the game’s winner late on.

Spurs now have to go back to the drawing board to plot another strategy to win a trophy next season.

The club’s fans had, somehow, been hopeful that the lads might pull something out of the bag and surprise City, alas, that never happened.

But City showed why they have won the last four editions and got the win that they wanted.

Spurs posted about the defeat on their Twitter account and fans reacted to the outcome of the game in the comments.

Some blamed Mason while some others say this team needs to be refreshed when the transfer window reopens. Here are some reactions:

According to Planet Football 9 players were brought in during Jose’s tenure- Bale, Gedson, Hojbjerg, Hart, Doherty, Reguilon, Vinicius, Bergwijn and Rodin. We are worse off than when Poch left and we also inherited a toxic clubhouse

In an alternate universe I see Mason sticking with the team till 90 minutes to go to extra time at 0-0, then bringing on Tanga for Reggy and Ndombele for Winks… and us eventually losing on penalties 😉

Spending is irrelevant. Teams at the bottom of the table would’ve went for it 10 times harder than that bunch of crud. That was 93 minutes of heartless, toothless, cluelessness like I’ve never seen in a cup final. (Save maybe a CL final a couple of years ago)
“Superleage Big 6”?? Go and wipe your eyes Levy you fool.

This season has shown them for what they are. Not good enough.

Totally agree, Winks is woeful, totally off the pace, no energy, no vision, constantly passing backwards.

should have lost by plenty, city didnt even have a striker on. I believe jose would have won this match especially starting with Ndombele ffs

Spurs got it totally wrong today. With City’s inability to score Jose would have won this game for spurs. Whose fault is this shit show. People moaned at jose for not playing Bale even though he was our hero against the very poor southampton, he didnt start the game, but yet hes world class. Bale played 30/40 minutes touched the ball once. was Jose right all along. Our best player who people moaned at jose for him not finishing a match didnt play most of the game. Our best player levy spent all this money on and gave jose all this grief about couldnt even get on the starting line up. How many people criticised Jose for playing Dier but Mason has followed suit 2 games in a row. How many people moaned at playing sissoko in games but he came on to replace our best player lo cleso. WHAT IS GOING ON AT SPURS. I get the media has brainwashed people with their anti Jose agenda but surely this isnt right. Someone who has completely failed spurs and its managers time and time again has now got to take some accountability. Im not a massive fan of Jose but feel he has been treated really bad by media, pundits fans and even his own chairman. We all know our team needs rebuilding even our favourite poch told us and one of the most successful managers of all time concluded an overhaul is needed. Poch got sacked, Jose whose remit is top 5 and a trophy which was possible at the time of sacking got sacked. Are we saying that managers are fine if they dont ask levy for money. Poch always said he was happy with his squad until the end and then got sacked. Jose who is proud and a winner who doesnt settle for losing probably demanded money and guess what got sacked. Its time levy stepped down. I dont believe his actions sacking jose at this time was best for the future of our club and the players that were on the fringe of the team that threw jose under the bus like poch should be ignored and moved on.

According to reports, Jose and Levy had a fall out over Winks and Dele. Jose wanted them gone, however, Levy got his nose involved and vetoed any transfer and insisted they play more. If Winks starts any game for us in the future, i am never blaming the manager ever again.

No midfield only looked we could change things when mouth was running through or Harry dropped deep. Sonny had a mare winks invisible Reggie looked shaky and ryan messed up like most I though after soaking up all that pressure we would snatch one but not with those substitutions.

We have beaten the Manc Arabs a few times they are not a bogey team for us.
Soak up pressure 1st half and I stupidly thought we would break late on – Kane/Son or Son/Kane in the net,
We were toothless

I agree we could have tried harder, maybe this season has knocked the stuffing out of the players.

With the money City have it’s not a fair fight and I can’t see an end to it even with increased stadium income City can always outspend us.

It wouldn’t matter who we played, City never had to get out of first gear.

We have just been beaten 1-0 by the best team in England , possibly in Europe, and the knives are already out. The real problem with Tottenham, as far as football is concerned, is the board. Profit line is the boss, football is secondary

To start Winks is unthinkable and to have him on the full 90 is criminal. Sissoko offers nothing and I thought Mason said we are going to play attacking football

I’m not blaming the manager or the players.

With the money Manchester City spend it’s extremely difficult to beat them.

There is no end to this in sight either.
