Rio Ferdinand tips UCL winning manager to join Tottenham

By Saikat -

Tottenham Hotspur manager Antonio Conte will be a free agent at the end of this season and the Premier League club have not managed to sign an extension with him yet.

The Italian’s long-term future at the club is up in the air and Tottenham’s inability to tie him down to an extension has fueled speculations in recent weeks.

Tottenham have been linked with a number of managers and former Premier League defender Rio Ferdinand believes that Thomas Tuchel could end up managing Tottenham next season.

“Spurs. I’d put money on Spurs. I’d put money on Spurs right now. If Tuchel ends up at Spurs, I would not be surprised,” he told his YouTube channel.

The German manager was sacked by Chelsea following a poor run of results and it will be interesting to see if he is willing to return to the Premier League and join Chelsea’s rivals Tottenham. Tuchel has proven himself at clubs like Borussia Dortmund and Paris Saint-Germain and there is no doubt that he is a top-class manager. He managed to win the Champions League with Chelsea during his time at Stamford Bridge.

Meanwhile, Tottenham have been linked with their former manager Mauricio Pochettino as well.

Tuchel is widely regarded as one of the finest tacticians in European football and he would be a quality appointment for most Premier League clubs. However, Tottenham will want to hold on to Antonio Conte for the long term.

The Italian has done an impressive job since taking over and Spurs have backed him heavily in the transfer market.

They are likely to be disappointed if the Italian decides to abandon his project at the London club. Conte is an ambitious manager who will want to win trophies with Tottenham before pursuing another adventure.

The Italian manager has been linked with a return to Juventus and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few months.
