Revealed: Fabio Paratici ‘tried to sign’ Napoli star in the summer but couldn’t agree on terms

Napoli gave Liverpool a 4-1 thrashing on Wednesday night in their first match of the group stage and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia deserves a lot of credit for his performance against them.

His start to the season in Napoli has been nothing short of spectacular, but had Tottenham’s Fabio Paratici had his way on two separate occasions, his career could have taken a very different turn.

According to Sport Witness, Fabio has ‘tried to sign’ the Georgia international twice in recent years. First, before moving to Spurs, the director of football attempted to bring the player to Juventus, according to Calciomercato. According to them, Kvaratskhelia ‘arrived in Italy a year late’ because the Italian ‘had practically blocked him from Rubin Kazan,’

The second time, ‘he tried to bring him to London (Spurs), but only on loan’. his didn’t work out since Napoli were willing to pay the full asking price to sign him on a permanent deal.

He went on to sign for Napoli and now has 4 goals and an assist in 5 games for the Italian giants. Spurs went on to break the bank and sign Richarlison instead for a whopping £60m deal which has also worked out well for them. The Brazilian opened his Spurs account with a brace against Marseille in a 2-0 win on their Champions League return.
