Return Of The Bid-less Loser

By The Boy -

Christian Erisken is preparing for the sorry walk back through the doors at Hotspur Way, because nobody was interested in his ‘come and get me plea’.

Eriksen until literally a season ago was held in high esteem by those who understand football. Which is to say he was as important to Tottenham as Michael Carrick and Luka Modric before him.

The fact that some fans never quite grasped how influential all three players have been for Spurs is not something I’ll be explaining here for the umpteenth time. However, it remains a crying shame that millennial fans exist.

Dele Alli’s contributions to the world currently at ‘finger tricks’ and some Air Miles for his barber, and yet he’s deemed a ‘world-class player’, while players such as our once great Dane Eriksen are viewed quizzically, because they don’t score enough goals.

I guess that Roman metonymic phrase about bread and circuses has to go down as the very definition of superficial appeasement.

Bread and circuses. You know, like shopping centres with food courts. Along with Fan, and Engagement.

Eriksen could yet be shifted, but it looks like a forlorn business. Forlorn may be the aptest adjective here. Christian is going to look pretty daft sloping back to Spurs after announcing he was interested in trying new pastures.

Should THFC get the 27-year-old to sign a new deal, it will feel unbearably loveless and practical, like a couple who’ve split up, but can’t afford to pay the other one to move out of the flat they bought together.

I understand your thoughts, but some clubs are actually well run and more about themselves than Levy. I cant think of a club in the world where Toby would not improve their backline – I am shocked a club like City (with no reason to dislike Levy) have not come in, or Barca. United don’t need to screw Levy, they have beaten him every time they have wanted to. Generally its the minnows that want to stick it to Levy, the big clubs don’t care, they just take our players, and to them, the premium is worth the money for the improvement.

I suspect that the main reason Eriksen wants to leave is that he does not like the role he has been playing, particularly since Dembele’s departure. He has always preferred a role in central midfield but Poch’s diamond formation sees him playing in wider positions that require him to track back and make a nuisance of himself once the opposition have the ball. The tracking back has become more important due to the lack of a reliable defensive midfielder and you can sense Eriksen’s frustration in doing something he doesn’t enjoy that is wearing him out in the process. I have frequently questioned his ability to truly boss a game but to be fair he has always needed someone to do the dirty work and get the ball to him where he can work his magic In the opponent’s half. Unfortunately the arrival of Ndombele has come too late and bridges have been burned so now it’s best for all concerned to cut losses and move on.

I take your points Spurs 1882 and especially about City. You would thnk that Company would recommend him to Guardiola to take his place in the short to medium term.
He’s certainly not as impetuous as Otamendi and Stones certainly hasn’t progressed to that stage in his developement yet.He would make a good partner for Laporte.
I think Barca would be looking for a younger man bearing in mind they are going to have to replace Pique before too long.
The bottom line is I want him to be paid properly and to stay with us.

Speaking of no bid losers…our boy Toby…if this £25m clause is true, why have we not been inundated?? Man United seem like they would rather pay £75m for Macguire when he doesn’t want to go there. I am not saying Toby would, but surely even if both were £75m Toby is the better defender.!

As I understand it the clause expires after the 26th. so I wouldn’t mind betting others are waiting till the 11th. hour to move in and fuck Levy right up.If the asking price is offered there’s nothing he can do.
Agreed he is far better than Maguire. He will be a steal for someone.

But why wait til the end of the window? You don’t get bargains, it’s a sellers market. And also might be an idea to get people who are new to the club in, get a pre season, get comfortable etc??? The year Leicester won it we hadn’t won a game by the start of September, and how much of that is down to the brilliant business man’s fucked up way of trying to get a bargain? There’s very few bargains out there any more, and your gonna need a better scouting system than ours to find them, if we even have one. It’s become a totally money based game now, and you either get with the programme or get left on the shore and win absolutely fuck all

Roma seem to be the only club ever mentioned regarding Toby. Whether there’s any truth to this is anyone’s guess. But if he did go there then the assumption he wants to leave Spurs to win trophies will be in tatters as Roma, like us, don’t win any anymore. If only Enic had awarded his outstanding displays with a contract vaguely resembling the market rate (Phil Jones is on £130k a week for f***’s sake), and had strengthened the squad from its position of strength at the end of 16/17, then Toby would probably be happily winning stuff at Spurs by now.

So the Prince of darkness is knocking up houses all around tottenham. Great. Brilliant. Could I ask a troubling question tho. What about the football club. You remember who they are don’t you Daniel. They are the poor sods you lumbered with a massive debt. And anyone who thinks these houses are gonna in any way help THFC, go and look for fairies in your garden. 3 weeks left. One potential cripple who’s already fucked off, and a world beater who’s probably been lied to, leaving us with one in, and God knows how many out. Now if we have decided to go with the same squad as last year with one addition, that’s a shame, they did lose 20 games last year. So you would realistically expect a similar pattern of numbers. Once again we are relying on others being shit instead of putting the boot in. The man is an absolute wanker, he’s finished me going to spurs anymore, I refuse to give that regime a penny to go and buy a new boat or painting.

Unfortunately for him he flatlined last season and is now nothing more than a 2 or 3rd choice back-up option for Real.
Even if the move happens its clear Zidane will only use him as a squad player, if that’s how he wants to spend the peak years of his career good luck to him.
As long as Poch is allowed to bring in a couple of replacements then thats fine by me. Back the manager.

If you looked at the stats alone, then Eriksen is a player a team like Tottenham would court. You cannot deny his talent / ability, but you also cannot deny he lacks the courage (mentally and physically) to impose himself upon the really big teams.
Apart from 60 minutes away to Juventus last year, I cannot recall a stellar performance from him against a top side. CE and Dele have linked up well to score some great goals for us but I don’t think we can afford both of them in the same starting 11 any longer because they are too inconsistent.

He’s stalled because THFC have run him into the ground like a pit pony. Overplayed because we have no quality bench , City have about 10 top midfielders to rotate and keep players fit and fresh, who have we , Oliver Skipp( who I like), if we had David Silva , we’d have burnt him out and made him look like sh*te. The wonder is that Eriksen hasn’t been wrecked by injury. I think Harry will be gone after this year, if he’s wise, or maybe he likes doing his ankles having to come on to rescue games against the likes of Newport County, because the board don’t give a flying f*CK about the welfare of their employees.
