Report: Tottenham to pursue Barcelona forward whose contract expires in June

Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their attack, and they could dip their toes into the free transfer market to land a young player who has talent but has an injury history.

According to Mundo Deportivo, Tottenham wants to pursue FC Barcelona winger Ousmane Dembélé, whose contract expires in June and has yet to reach a contract extension with the Spanish club.

The Spanish press states that Barça believes that the France international’s representatives are trying to get closer to January 1, so Dembélé can negotiate and engage with the club of his choice before joining him free this summer.

Furthermore, the north London-based club wants to offer the forward a significant salary and a starting status. They’re also promising Dembélé a key piece in his future project at Tottenham. Club chief Fabio Paratici has long had an interest in the Barcelona forward, even when he was at Juventus.

Now it seems he’s ready to pursue him and pay no transfer fee. Nonetheless, if this is the forward they want to bring into their squad, the injury history should make them proceed with caution.
