Report – Tottenham targeting a move for 23-year-old Serie A defender

Reports from Italy via Football London claims that Fiorentina’s Nikola Milenkovic is set for a summer move to Tottenham.

The 23-year-old has been one of the standout young centre-backs in Europe for some time now and he will continue to get better.

Spurs wanted to sign a centre back in the last transfer window and they spent a considerable amount of time looking to sign Milan Skriniar from Inter Milan.

Their move for the Slovakian fell through and they managed to land Joe Rodon from Swansea before the domestic transfer window closed.

Rodon is yet to establish himself as the club’s top defender, but it seems that he isn’t going to be the last defender that Mourinho signs.

The report claims that Spurs are actively trying to close a deal for his signature and that the Lilywhites will have to beat competition from Manchester United, Inter Milan and Atletico Madrid before they can land him.

This season offers Mourinho the chance to end Tottenham’s wait for a trophy which has lasted for 12 years.

The Special One was backed heavily in the last transfer window. If he can win a trophy or two this season, the club will feel obliged to beat their competitors to the signing of Milenkovic.
