Report: Tottenham target decides to leave Europe for MLS after his contract expires in June

Tottenham Hotspur wants to improve their forward group to add more scoring depth and lessen the responsibilities of striker Harry Kane.

The 28-year-old striker has four goals in 16 Premier League matches, but Spurs might be crossing one target off their list. The north London club had been linked to Napoli forward Lorenzo Insigne, whose contract expires in June.

However, it seems as though the 30-year-old wants to depart Europe and never can play against his former club. According to SportMediaset, Insigne is very close to announcing his decision to join Toronto FC of MLS.

The report adds that there’s an agreement has been reached on a five-year contract worth around £8-million a year in basic salary. The deal also includes an extra £3.8-million in performances add-ons connected to personal goals and targets.

Insigne wants to leave Europe, so there’s no possibility of his departure hurting Napoli and its supporters if he does indeed leave the Italian club. The winger heading to North America does prevent him from facing Napoli.

Tottenham will have to look elsewhere to add more scoring depth to their forward position.
